Thor Casting News: Including Natalie Portman?

Nikki Finke must be tight with an inside source at the Thor movie camp, because she’s gotten some good casting news lately.  We reported earlier that Josh Hartnett was in the running to potentially play Loki, Thor’s naughty little brother, but it seems that might not be the only case.  Apparently Hartnett has also been trying out for the role of Thor himself!  Now that’s pretty funny given the fact that WB really wanted him for the role of superman a few years back and threw a whack of money his way to get him, but ultimately he refused.  Maybe he had second thoughts and is revisting the superhero pool??  Who knows!?  There is another camp of people at the studio lobbying for a more unknown name for the lead however, so we’ll have to see if Hartnett can even get this role – maybe he missed his superhero chance!  The other actors trying for the lead are Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy), Tom Hiddlestone (HBO’s the Gathering Storm), Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood), Liam Helmsworth and Joel Kinnaman.

In even BIGGER Thor news, aparently Natalie Portman is in the lead for the female lead!  Wait – which female character is being included in the script???  Thor’s Wife – Sif, who was also a goddess in Asgard?  Or Maybe Thor’s mother?  I guess we’ll have to wait for Branagh to give us the details, untill then let me know who you think Portman would play!??  Didn’t Thor turn into a woman version for awhile??hmmm………
