Potential Directors for Superman Reboot Revealed!
Movie News — By ecksmanfan on September 26, 2010 4:56 amThe upcoming Superman reboot is among the most talked about films out there right now and the rumor mill is working over time in regards to who would be donning the red and blue tights, not to mention who would be helming the project. A while back, it was revealed that The Dark Knight and Inception director, Christopher Nolan would be acting as a “Godfather” of sorts to the project, over-seeing the entire production.
Now, Christopher Nolan has released his short list of directors who he’d like to take the lead of the film, reports Deadline. The list contains some rather interesting names that cover a wide range of styles. The two biggest names on the list are Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen) and Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In). Shortly before this info was released, Snyder mentioned that he had been offered the chance to direct but turned it down. Also on the list are Tony Scott (Unstoppable), Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles) and Duncan Jones (Moon).
As much as I like Snyder, and I’d love to see him take on a Nolan-like script, I don’t think his style would blend well with the Superman character. Matt Reeves is receiving some great press for his upcoming film Let Me In and would be interested to see how he’d interpret a comic book film. As for the others, I’m not too familiar with their work, so I can’t comment too much.
I would suspect that we can expect an announcement in the coming weeks as to who Nolan chooses to take the directors chair. The Superman reboot, currently working under the title Superman”: Man of Steel, is hoping for a late 2012 release.
